Man, 35, killed in Hell's Kitchen as crime surges in neighborhood
Briefly

Murders in the Midtown North Precinct have surged by 66.7% this year compared to 2023, indicating a significant rise in violent crime that has locals worried.
"I've lived here for years, it got really nice. It got gentrified and then it's back to 1980s all over again," said resident Thomas Kurilla, reflecting on the area's decline.
"It's a scary time around Hell's Kitchen. It's unfortunate to see the direction it's gone. I hope it gets better. This street used to be better," another resident lamented.
With five homicides reported this year alone, alongside increases in robberies, assaults, and other crimes, the community is experiencing a troubling resurgence of violence.
