McDonald's strategy of introducing $5 meal deals has proven successful, as CEO Chris Kempczinski noted that these deals lead to increased customer spending, averaging more than $10 per transaction. Originally launched as a temporary offer, the popularity prompted McDonald's to make it a permanent part of the McValue menu. Additionally, international value meals have shown positive results, with offerings in Canada and Germany contributing to market share growth and attracting consumers seeking budget-friendly options in an increasingly competitive fast-food landscape.
If you look at the $5 meal deal, even though that's compelling value, it's driving other purchases, Kempczinski said to investors in the call.
The average check on $5 meal deal for us in the US is north of $10. So it's doing what we were hoping for when we launched that.
The chiefs said in the call that the chain is also seeing good results for its value meals for international markets.
Borden said that in Germany, the chain continued to drive market share gains by expanding.
