Motorists urged to slow down during frost as driver caught going double the speed limit in 60km/hr zone

Chief Superintendent Jane Humphries described the drivers who drive at excessive speed as a "menace on our roads." She emphasized, "The disregard for speed limits... is irresponsible and dangerous."

Gardaí emphasize that speed limits are not targets. Drivers should travel at an appropriate safe speed for the weather, road, and traffic conditions during this cold spell.

In the past 72 hours, 375 motorists were detected speeding, including drivers caught exceeding limits by more than 60 km/hr in Dublin and Donegal.

Over the last 72 hours, there were 29 drivers arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, highlighting ongoing issues with road safety.
