New 'Dateline' correspondent Blayne Alexander on going from maternity leave ... to murder
Briefly

"It's been amazing. It's been great," Alexander says of her first day back from maternity leave. "But I just texted Jay, 'I miss our girls.' I am excited to get back to them."
Alexander describes the transition to having two kids like a game of Whac-a-mole. "You put one baby down and somebody needs something. Or someone's crying. Or two people are crying at the same time," she laughs. "But all that said, it's the most beautiful thing ever."
When Sage was born, Alexander says they were at the "tail end of the pandemic," so they mostly stayed inside. This time, she jokes that they "overcorrected" because when Skylar was just a week old, "We were out getting smoothies as a family. We took her to the park. We took her to brunch. We went to Florida for a week."
It's kind of special to for her to know that if she pushes the right combination of buttons on the remote control, she'll get me on TV. If I have to be gone for a couple days, she understands that mommy is doing something that's important."
