Newcastle has made limited progress in the transfer market, with Anthony Elanga being their only signing. They are looking for a striker alongside Alexander Isak and have shifted focus to Yoane Wissa after missing out on other targets. Wissa, who has personal terms agreed with Newcastle, is keen on playing in the Champions League. Brentford, however, has rejected two bids for Wissa, stating they would sell only for over 50m. Yoane Wissa, who scored 19 goals in the Premier League last season, has already agreed personal terms with Newcastle, who he wants to join to fulfil his wish of playing in the Champions League.
Brentford have informed Newcastle that they are not prepared to sell Wissa this summer, having now turned down a second bid from the Carabao Cup winners, believed to be worth in excess of 30m.
A deal would only be possible if Brentford received over 50m, which reflects their firm stance against selling Wissa.
Wissa has gone on strike by refusing to train, as he aims to force through a move to Newcastle.
