The Professional Fighters League (PFL), after acquiring Bellator MMA, is reformatting its approach for 2025 by replacing the season and points-style structure with a World Tournament. This shift aims to spotlight emerging fighters, as evidenced by Dakota Ditcheva’s success in the women's flyweight division. PFL CEO Peter Murray emphasized a commitment to nurturing young talent globally, promoting fighters like Ditcheva who move up through their system, showcasing a forward-focused vision as they prepare for the upcoming tournament.
What we get excited about at the PFL is identifying and developing the next generation of great fighters that come from different parts of the world and then giving them a pathway to becoming great, as well as [becoming] potential champions-regionally and globally.
Dakota is a great example of [our approach], she worked through our system out of Manchester, came to PFL Europe, did the business, became champion and then punched her ticket to the global roster.
