Plans to replace Sutton Poundland with McDonald's withdrawn after 470 objections
Briefly

McDonald's proposed converting the Poundland store in Worcester Park into a restaurant with a dining area for 25, creating approximately 120 jobs. The plans included modifications to the parking area to accommodate motorcycles, accessible parking, and bicycle stands. However, the application met with widespread opposition, with 471 residents raising concerns over traffic congestion and littering. Ultimately, McDonald's withdrew its application less than a year after submission due to overwhelming objections from the community, highlighting significant local disapproval of the project.
I'm amazed, given the location of the property in question and the already problematic traffic & lack of suitable pedestrian crossings, that this application is even being made. That location on the High Street is a pinch point which already suffers from regular traffic jams, blocked hatched boxes at junctions and repeated road works at various parts of the road.
I object on the grounds of increased traffic and litter. The entrance and exit will cause a bottleneck on Central Road. There is likely to be insufficient parking.
