Police given extra powers to tackle antisocial behaviour in Lewisham

The police in Lewisham have been granted a dispersal order effective from 1 PM February 14 until 12:01 AM February 15 to combat rising antisocial behaviour. The order, approved by Inspector Durnell, covers Lewisham town centre, Sydenham, and Forest Hill. Under Section 35 dispersal powers, police officers and designated PCSOs can target individuals aged ten and above who are reportedly involved in antisocial activities. Officers will patrol these areas and can arrest those who refuse to comply with the dispersal order.
Police officers and designated PCSOs can use Section 35 dispersal powers to address individuals aged 10 or older involved in antisocial behaviour, crime, or disorder.
A dispersal order has been granted for Lewisham town centre, Sydenham and Forest Hill from 1pm today (February 14). It will last until 12.01am tomorrow.
