Pope Francis hits out at Trump's mass deportation of migrants
Briefly

Pope Francis has expressed his disapproval of the Trump administration's mass deportation policies in a letter to US bishops. He emphasized that while nations have the right to self-protection, forcibly removing immigrants could harm their dignity and escalate their vulnerability. This rebuke is not the first from the Pope, who previously criticized Trump's immigration policies by asserting that those who build walls to keep out migrants are not true Christians. The Pope's comments come amid Trump’s intensifying deportation efforts, which have already resulted in significant arrests and deportations.
The rightly formed conscience cannot fail to make a critical judgment and express its disagreement with any measure that tacitly or explicitly identifies the illegal status of some migrants with criminality.
Forcibly removing immigrants damages the dignity of many men and women, and of entire families, and places them in a state of particular vulnerability and defencelessness.
What is built on the basis of force, and not of respect for the dignity of each person, will end badly.
