Restored mural by Philip Guston, Reuben Kadish and Jules Langsner unveiled in Mexico
Briefly

Philip Guston's only Mexican mural, titled The Struggle Against Terrorism, will be unveiled this spring after extensive restoration. Completed in 1935, it was initially hidden behind a fake wall for 40 years. The mural, located in the Museo Regional Michoacano Dr. Nicolás León Calderón in Morelia, covers a vast area and incorporates significant social and political imagery, reflecting themes of war, fascism, and civil rights. Guston's artwork is notable for its controversial depiction of figures like the Ku Klux Klan, showcasing his commitment to social justice and influences from fellow muralists like Siqueiros.
"The mural, which was hidden behind a fake wall for 40 years, is located in an 18th-century mansion built by the Spanish in 1785 that now houses the Museo Regional Michoacano Dr Nicolás León Calderón in Morelia."
"Guston is credited by the scholar Ellen Landau as 'probably responsible for devising the key imagery' and painting the most controversial elements including members of the Ku Klux Klan."
