Retired Olympic figure skaters Gabriella Papadakis and Madison Hubbell are championing the inclusion of same-sex pairs in major figure skating competitions. During an event in Switzerland, they performed together, highlighting their campaign for LGBTQ+ representation in the sport. Having previously competed against each other, they found joy in skating together post-retirement. Their initiative seeks not only to open doors for LGBTQ+ athletes but also to encourage more participation among young women in ice dance. Papadakis and Hubbell expressed their hope for a more inclusive future in figure skating where everyone can belong.
