Runaway horse safely rescued by Maine troopers after jaunt on I-95

Troopers rescued a runaway horse on I-95 in central Maine early Wednesday morning. The horse, belonging to an owner on Snake Root Road in Pittsfield, was running with traffic in the northbound lane before crossing into the southbound lanes. Troopers found the horse at approximately 3 a.m. in Burnham. They secured the horse and transported it safely back home with the help of an Animal Control Officer. The horse was scared but uninjured, and its owner arrived at the scene promptly after the rescue.

The horse, whose owner lives on Snake Root Road in Pittsfield, Maine, was initially seen running with traffic in the northbound breakdown lane.
Troopers Andrew Peterson and Dan Murray and Specialist Hailey Fleming rescued the horse, which was scared but uninjured.
The horse was transported in a trailer back to its home with the help of Animal Control Officer Russell Craft.
