Rwanda-backed rebels force 110,000 from camps in eastern DR Congo
Briefly

The M23 rebels in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo have captured Goma, resulting in the exodus of over 110,000 people and a humanitarian crisis. The rebels initially gave a 72-hour ultimatum for the displaced to leave camps, later claiming relocations should be voluntary. Many displaced individuals express despair at returning to villages without adequate resources. The overall displacement since late January has exceeded 500,000, exacerbating the humanitarian situation that OCHA warns is already critical and subject to further deterioration due to the fluid circumstances.
"I am surprised because we are asked to leave, yet I have nothing to give to the children. We all (are) leaving without any help and I don't know if we're going to make it."
"The current situation is very fluid. It is extremely important to keep in mind that a sudden movement of a population can worsen the humanitarian crisis that was already underway."
