Starting January 1, 2025, Southwest Airlines will allow frequent flyers to earn loyalty points on cash payments made when redeeming points for tickets, enhancing their loyalty program.
According to an airline spokesperson, the initiative is part of a 'reimagining' of the airline's customer experience, aiming to improve the benefits of their loyalty program.
The updates also mean that cash used in a Cash+Points booking will contribute to earning thresholds for A-List and A-List Preferred statuses, adding further value for loyal customers.
Southwest's Cash+Points program, introduced in May 2024, now allows members to combine cash with as little as 1,000 points, broadening options for travelers.
