Spain’s Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez has ordered the country’s largest-ever peacetime military deployment of 5,000 troops to assist in recovery efforts after deadly floods.
Sanchez described the severe floods as the worst natural disaster in Spain's recent history, which has claimed at least 211 lives and caused significant destruction.
Sanchez emphasized the ongoing challenges in delivering timely assistance, noting that the help was getting stuck and many communities remained isolated and in need.
In the wake of the floods, Sanchez called for unity and cooperation among political groups to better address the crisis and support affected families.
