The Black Keys recently opened up about the cancellation of their arena tour last year, attributing the decision to poor ticket sales during their 2024 European tour. Drummer Patrick Carney criticized the planning by Full Stop Management, stating it was the worst-organized tour they had experienced. High ticket prices led to fan dissatisfaction, though Carney noted he and bandmate Dan Auerbach weren't consulted about the pricing. Subsequently, they canceled nearly $10 million in ticket sales and promised to rebook in smaller venues, indicating a newfound commitment to better fan relations.
Shit happens. The problems started even earlier, when the band was on a European tour for their 2024 album Ohio Players. After going to Europe 30 times in our career for tours, this was the most poorly orchestrated tour we had been on.
We realized that we have to be more involved in this. The last thing Dan and I want to do is gouge a fan on a ticket. There were no holds on rooms, it was bullshit.
We just had to take one on the fucking face. The band ended up canceling nearly $10 million in ticket sales.
We got offered a lot of money to play a show, and we saw that the Black Pumas had done the same event and we were like, 'Book it.'
