In response to a bird flu outbreak which has severely affected egg supplies, retailers like Trader Joe's, Costco, and others are enforcing purchase limits on eggs to ensure customers have access. Trader Joe’s, for example, has imposed a limit of one carton per customer daily. Other grocery chains, such as Walmart and Kroger, have variable limitations in place based on regional policies. Although supply remains tight, these retailers are working with suppliers to meet demand and keep prices stable while navigating the shortage.
Trader Joe's is capping purchases to one carton per customer each day to help ensure that as many customers as possible can buy eggs during this limited supply.
Walmart states it hasn't imposed national limits on egg purchases, except for 60-count cartons, which are capped to two per purchase due to tight supply.
