Due to LIV's lucrative contracts enticing PGA players, the sport remains divided. PGA commissioner Jay Monahan, along with player-director Tiger Woods, met Trump to encourage his involvement, believing it could benefit golf and the countries involved. The push for reunification grows urgent, as a previous framework agreement remains unresolved 18 months after its announcement and surpassed deadlines for completion.

Trump does have standing and credibility with the LIV founders. His Trump National Doral Golf Club in Miami is hosting an event in April, as it did in 2023.
