After two years exploring renewable energy, I realized the necessity of data from solar inverters. The Growatt SPF 6000 ES PLUS was my latest upgrade, but its ShineWifi solution fell short, updating data every five minutes and relying heavily on cloud services. This led me to create a local data logger for my inverter using Modbus RTU Protocol, allowing for integration with Home Assistant. The tutorial encompasses setting up the Waveshare device and configuring it with local network access to enhance monitoring capabilities.
It's essential to have not just a Solar Inverter setup but also comprehensive data monitoring; Victron's VRM solution exemplifies excellent OEM energy monitoring.
After switching to Growatt SPF 6000 ES PLUS, I found its ShineWifi data logger inadequate due to limited data updates and reliance on cloud services.
