"excited to accelerate Britain's leadership in the future of mobility, bringing another safe and reliable travel option to Londoners next year."
"Our hybrid network - AVs and drivers working together - will serve all of London's travel needs,"
"We're working closely with Transport for London regulators and local communities to expand the rideshare market and create more opportunities for everyone."
"major right-hand drive market"
Baidu will pilot its Apollo Go robo-ride service in London in the first half of 2026 with support from Uber, and Lyft is also partnering with Baidu. The companies intend a hybrid network of autonomous vehicles and human drivers and are coordinating with Transport for London regulators and local communities. Baidu cited Hong Kong operations as enabling entry into a major right-hand-drive market. The UK passed the Automated Vehicles Act in 2024 to accommodate robot cars. Robo-taxis have completed millions of uneventful rides but remain vulnerable to operational hazards and traffic disruptions.
