Up to 1,000 social and affordable homes could be built at Leopardstown Racecourse as part of potential deal

Horse Racing Ireland is exploring the sale of land at Leopardstown racecourse to the Land Development Agency as part of a broader initiative to develop affordable housing. This land transfer is part of the Government's Housing for All plan and aims to facilitate the construction of approximately 1,000 homes. Discussions are ongoing, with assurances that racing at Leopardstown will not be affected during this process, demonstrating a collaborative effort to enhance housing prospects in the area.

The Land Development Agency is working with the Government and Horse Racing Ireland (HRI) to accelerate the partial transfer of land at Leopardstown, for the development of much-needed affordable and social housing.

The LDA is currently in discussions with the HRI and Government to secure the transfer of a section of the land, that would enable the development of around 1,000 homes.
