The PGA Tour has announced the relocation of the Genesis Invitational from Riviera Country Club to the South Course at Torrey Pines, scheduled for Feb. 10-16, 2025. This move comes in response to recent wildfires affecting the Los Angeles area. Torrey Pines already has the necessary infrastructure in place from the ongoing Farmers Insurance Open. PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan emphasized the event's role in unifying communities and supporting recovery efforts. Tiger Woods, who hosts the tournament and has a strong history at Torrey Pines, expressed gratitude for the new venue while his participation remains uncertain.
As we've seen the last two weeks, sports can be a great diversion but an even greater unifier in bringing people together for a common cause.
