Jockey Michael O'Sullivan tragically passed away following a severe head injury from a fall during a race at Tipperary on February 6. At just 24 years old, he was a rising star in the racing world, having achieved significant success in partnership with top trainer Willie Mullins. His death has sent shockwaves through the racing community, with tributes pouring in from friends, colleagues, and public figures, all highlighting his talent, humility, and the great loss felt by his absence.
It's dreadful news which puts all our problems into context. He will be much missed here and there is a real sadness over the whole of Closutton today.
Deeply saddened to learn of the tragic death of jockey Michael O'Sullivan. A talented rider who inspired many, with sincere sympathies to his family.
He was such a natural rider who was very modest, friendly, and understated. His understanding of horses and racing was exceptional.
Closutton will be a much poorer place without him. We have his family in our thoughts and our prayers are for them now.
