Matthew Muller, a convicted kidnapper, was sentenced to two consecutive life sentences for home invasions and attempted rapes in 2009, involving two victims in Santa Clara County. These sentences build on his prior convictions related to the 2015 kidnapping and rape of Denise Huskins, which gained significant media attention when initially dismissed by police as a hoax. Support from Huskins led to new police investigations, revealing Muller's additional crimes, including a previously unreported kidnapping in San Ramon.
"It's important to recognize that what happened to Denise and to Aaron was awful. It was horrible. But they turned it into a force for good and a force for change," said Santa Clara County Deputy District Attorney Brian King.
Matthew Muller received two additional consecutive life sentences for his 2009 home invasions and attempted rapes, adding to his existing sentences for the 2015 kidnapping of Denise Huskins.
These life sentences will accompany Muller’s previous sentences tied to the highly publicized 2015 Vallejo case, where the police initially dismissed Huskins' account as a hoax.
Muller’s confessions to the Santa Clara County home invasions were facilitated by a correspondence initiated by the police chief of a Monterey County town.
