Major Yosemite entrance road set to reopen after rockslide
Briefly

Teichert Construction is scheduled to commence repairs on Highway 140 near Yosemite National Park on March 25, 2025, after a significant debris slide occurred on March 17, 2025. This affected a 4.5-mile stretch of the highway, closing it in both directions. By Wednesday afternoon, traffic is expected to resume with one-way controls due to ongoing safety measures following the rock slide that damaged the asphalt. The California Department of Transportation plans for intermittent traffic controls in the following days to manage safety and access for travelers and maintenance workers.
Caltrans will also have "intermittent traffic controls and flagging operations" on Thursday and Friday, possibly continuing "into the weekend or early next week."
The rock avalanche took the asphalt off of the road bed, necessitating an immediate full closure of the highway.
