Mike Flaugher, a dedicated director of the Santa Clara Valley Open Space Authority, passed away on February 22. Elected in 2014, he championed environmental causes and served multiple organizations throughout his career. Recognized for his commitment and leadership, Flaugher actively engaged in several community initiatives and held significant roles, contributing positively to his communities in Milpitas, North San Jose, and Berryessa. An Air Force veteran, he will be honored by the authority, as discussions about filling his board seat commence. Flaugher's legacy of service and dedication to connecting communities to open spaces will be remembered.
Mike was a terrific partner in getting things done. No matter how complex the issue, he focused on the work and on fulfilling his own personal commitment to protecting the environment.
His vision and efforts will guide us as we work to continue connecting the communities we serve to the open spaces he so dearly cherished.
