The Mission's art hub is rejuvenating local culture as it reopens its doors for the Spring Open Studios event, showcasing over 70 artists. Located in a former mayonnaise factory, this vibrant building has fostered creative collaboration for nearly two decades. Artists range from well-established figures to newcomers, like Dee Hampton, who discovered her artistic passion during the pandemic. The event allows the community to interact with artists and purchase original works, making art more accessible and fostering an inspiring environment.
It feels really good to be here ... I'm more open to experimentation than ever, said Dee Hampton.
It has a childlike, playful element. Before, people had to come to my apartment to see my work. Now, I finally get to share it.
