These days, when malevolent threats seem endless and allies grow ever more elusive, wouldn't it be splendid if queer folks could draw on their magic to defeat the forces of evil? Together with these talented authors, we'll create a space where that just might be within reach. All the roads will reopen Sunday.
HellaFunny is taking over one of SF's premier cannabis lounges, Moe Greens, for a night of "Puff Puff Laugh." That's right... it's the only comedy show in San Francisco where you can (legally in California) get high during the show. You'll see a killer comedy show with a handpicked lineup of 4-5 comics who normally perform at SF Sketchfest, Cobb's Comedy Club, Punchline and Thrive City.
Did you hear it? That roar of jet engines over San Francisco. The Fleet Week Air Show continued over the city's waterfront Saturday. This year, no U.S. Military planes could take part due to the government shutdown, but spectators still enjoyed the show. "This is the biggest party in San Francisco the whole year," said Glenda McGovern from Healdsburg.
Anthony is a San Francisco native with a debilitating fentanyl addiction, he told Mission Local. Over the past few years, he has struggled to get clean six times but never managed to stay sober for more than a month. He used to love the Mission but he's getting tired of it - it feels impossible to stay clean when drugs are so accessible.
The tragic story of an apparent murder-suicide in San Francisco's Westwood Park neighborhood earlier this week gained some details on Thursday, and we now know that the perpetrator of the murders appears to have been the mother. A string of failed businesses, a home that was forced into a foreclosure sale, and mounting debt appear to have been factors leading 53-year-old Paula Truong to end the lives of her children and husband, before taking her own life.

They're the all-day diners where the corned beef sandwiches are the size of your face; the old-school eateries where bagels and lox aren't just a breakfast food; the buzzing gathering place for having matzo ball soup and golden latkes nowhere near the holidays with which they're associated. On the East Coast and in L.A., delis are so ubiquitous that a child's first pastrami on rye is almost a rite of passage.

"When a city that has given them so much now is facing a budget deficit of $800 million in the next two fiscal years, what did Airbnb do? They filed lawsuits against us so they don't have to pay their fair share," said San Francisco Supervisor Connie Chan, speaking in front of the company's headquarters at a Wednesday press conference announcing the boycott campaign.
Four people were found dead in San Francisco on Wednesday. The San Francisco Fire Department confirmed the bodies were discovered in a home on the 900 block of Monterey Blvd. It was reported around 1:25 p.m. This is in the area of Westwood Highlands neighborhood, south of Mt. Davidson Park. The case has been turned over to San Francisco police.
"If you know you need to get off of and away from drugs, you shouldn't be forced into housing where drug use is allowed and where recovery is not supported," he said. "Some folks won't go into housing because they know that it actually is dangerous for them because they're still experiencing an addiction. ... This isn't about having zero tolerance to drug use. It's about having environments where recovery is explicitly supported, and that is the goal."
Big chains Shake Shack and Panda Express are the last restaurants operating inside the mall's once-bustling lower level. This summer, Jamba Juice, Blondie's Pizza, Izzy & Wooks, Mija Cochinita, Umai Savory Hot Dogs, and Fires of Brazil Express closed within quick succession, according to a report by the San Francisco Chronicle. Blondie's Pizza relocated within SF, while Izzy & Wooks planned to relocate, too, the Chronicle reported. (The Chronicle and SFGATE are both owned by Hearst but have separate newsrooms.)
