AJ McKee, the former Bellator featherweight champion, is returning to the 145-pound division after a challenging period at lightweight. Following a split decision loss in a title eliminator at 155 pounds, McKee recognizes the need to return to his original weight class. He believes moving back down will be easier this time, as he has matured in his approach to diet and training. With a strong desire to reclaim his title, McKee aims to re-establish himself as the top fighter in the featherweight division during PFL Cape Town.
Just coming back to the 145-pound division and showing everyone again who the best in the world is at this division.
I think now it's honestly a bit easier going back down. When I was younger, I didn't really diet properly.
I was a fight away from the title at 155, lost a split decision, I wasn't healthy, hadn't been healthy.
I'm really not a 155-pounder; everyone knows I'm a 145-pounder, so I was just having fun.
