LFA 227 Winner Roman Puga Wants on DWCS: "I'm Starving, & I Want to Prove My Worth"
"Absolutely. Dana White's Contender Series, I'm willing to step up there and test my skill set against more top-notch competitors, more hungry fighters, and showcase that out of all the hungry fighters, I'm malnourished, I'm starving, and I want to prove my worth."
"Just keep putting pressure on him. I see he's breaking and I know as long as I'm clinical with my shots, I'm going to put him out. I knew he was crumbling, because I was wobbling him with the jab. So he couldn't take that power."
"No I wasn't. We prepared for it, you can see it in there, but more or less I thought he was going to stand up and strike me, showcase his kickboxing and attempt to try to put me out at my own game, which is on the feet."
Roman Puga, a 29-year-old featherweight, defeated Hamzeh Trad via second-round TKO at LFA 227, bringing his record to 5-1. Puga turned professional in 2018, initially competing for Bellator MMA before pursuing boxing for skill development. He has since returned to MMA and established himself in the California fighting scene, currently holding a 2-0 record in LFA. Following his victory, Puga expressed strong interest in competing on Dana White's Contender Series to test himself against elite competitors. He credited his success to maintaining pressure, clinical striking, and exploiting his opponent's vulnerability to his jab power. Puga has won four consecutive MMA bouts since transitioning back from boxing.
