Jake Holmes, the original songwriter of 'Dazed and Confused', has lodged a lawsuit against Jimmy Page and others for copyright infringement in California. Holmes claims his rights were violated through the recent release of live recordings and the documentary 'Becoming Led Zeppelin' that featured the song without proper credit. This follows an earlier 2010 settlement where he was acknowledged as 'inspired by Jake Holmes' after a similar dispute. Holmes is seeking at least $150,000 for each infringement he asserts has occurred.
Holmes alleges that Page, Warner Chappell, and Sony Pictures violated his rights to 'Dazed and Confused' due to new recordings and documentary features.
The lawsuit claims that 'Dazed and Confused' was used without Holmes' permission in the documentary, seeking damages for copyright infringement.
Holmes' prior suit in 2010 was settled when Zeppelin agreed to credit him as 'inspired by Jake Holmes' for future reissues.
The current complaint asserts that Page willfully infringed Holmes' composition, misclaiming rights and collecting fees unlawfully.
