Megadeth unveiled a cover of Metallica's 'Ride the Lightning,' a song Dave Mustaine co-wrote while in Metallica, and included it as a bonus track on their self-titled final album released January 23. The inclusion serves to pay respects to where Mustaine's career began and to complete a full circle. The band slightly increased the tempo, adjusted the solo, and used Mustaine's vocals, which differ from James Hetfield's. Megadeth's rendition preserves the original's riffage while adding speed and Mustaine's distinct vocal tone. Megadeth will begin a farewell headlining tour of Canada next month and will later support Iron Maiden's North American tour.
