After he woke up on Sunday, Feb. 1, Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine got out of bed and went into the kitchen of his home in Franklin, Tenn. He downed a variety of health and wellness liquids and supplements, then picked up his phone and noticed a text from his son, Justis, who works at the band's management company. It read, "We're number one!!!"
January 17th, 2026 was officially declared " Megadeth Day" in La Vergne, Tennessee, with the band appearing in-person for a ceremony at city hall on Friday. Megadeth were in town for "Let There Be Shred: The Ultimate Megadeth Immersive Listening Event," which was hosted at the recording studio in La Vergne where Megadeth recorded their self-titled final album (Dave Mustaine and his family reside in nearby Williamson County, roughly 30 minutes from Nashville).
