The Montreal band TEKE::TEKE, initially a tribute to Takeshi Terauchi, evolved their sound by incorporating psychedelia and alternative rock into their music.
TEKE::TEKE was longlisted for the Polaris Music Prize in 2021 and again in 2023 for their albums 'Shirushi' and 'Hagata', respectively.
Originating in a record store, TEKE::TEKE drew inspiration from Terauchi's 60s 'eleki' music, a blend of Japanese folk rock and American surf-rock.
They recorded a live set for WXPN's Indie Rock Hit Parade, showcasing their unique sound that transcends traditional genre boundaries.
