Swedish post-punk band Viagra Boys have announced their new album, entitled 'viagr aboys,' set for release on April 25th. This marks their first album since 2022 and includes a lead single titled 'Man Made of Meat,' showcasing their signature dark humor within a satirical music video. The song critiques modern anxieties under capitalism and highlights absurdities of contemporary culture. The album will be released via their new label, Shrimptech Enterprises, and vocalists comment on its title's simplicity as reflective of their own playful approach to music.
"Man Made of Meat," the album's lead single, finds Murphy reprising his signature dark humor and satirical tone over crisp guitars and a meaty bassline.
Murphy laments the anxieties of modern life under capitalism: "I am a man that's made of meat/ You're on the internet looking at feet" goes just one humorous line in the chorus.
The album title's particular spelling, vocalist Sebastian Murphy says, "This is like a self-titled album but a bit simple and stupid - because that's how I am."
The song also comes with a music video directed by Daniel Björkman that depicts Murphy as an 'accidental artist,' illustrating the absurdity of art creation.
