Widemouth, a Chicago band, is releasing its debut album No Gasoline on May 29 through Urban Scandal Records. The album was co-produced by Jack Henry and Sam Genualdi. The band describes the songs as containing anger and fear, along with heartbreak, grief, and childhood stories, framed as a patient exploration of old pain central to sobriety. Friendship is presented as the core theme, with the album itself functioning as an act of friendship, empathy, and community because the songs are written together and the pain is shared. The band has released the single “Raincoat,” a plaintive ballad with a country twang, and also shared “Hotel Pool” and the title track. A hometown release show is scheduled for June 5 at Schubas.
