A new queer coffee shop and bar is opening in Bushwick this month
Briefly

Boyfriend, a new cafe/bar in Bushwick, seeks to provide the LGBTQ+ community with a daytime space for socializing outside of nightlife. This establishment promises affordable prices, fair compensation for its workers, and a welcoming atmosphere. Uniquely, it operates on a multi-stakeholder co-op model, enabling employees to eventually become owners. Customers can also buy memberships for added benefits like free coffee and event access. The opening event is set for March 29 after two-and-a-half years of planning and community engagement through pop-ups and crowdfunding.
Boyfriend aims to create a unique daytime/nighttime queer space where the community can gather, collaborate, and enjoy each other's company in a sober environment.
The co-op model allows workers not just to be employees but potential owners, fostering an investment in the business’s success and community.
