George Clooney recently premiered his Broadway play 'Good Night, and Good Luck' in NYC, but his wife Amal was absent as she stayed home with their twins. The couple, who temporarily moved to New York to support Clooney's project, has often had Amal attend past events. The play, based on the acclaimed 2005 film, portrays Edward R. Murrow's confrontation with Senator Joseph McCarthy. This star-studded premiere featured numerous celebrities, highlighting Clooney's return to the stage and the importance of the story he wishes to tell.
Clooney, 63, told reporters that Amal, 47, wasn't there because "she's with the kids." He did not explain why the couple didn't hire a babysitter, since that's presumably what they did in the past.
The Broadway premiere was a star-studded event, drawing the likes of Jennifer Lopez, Uma Thurman, and Pierce Brosnan at the Winter Garden Theatre.
The story is about legendary journalist and news anchor Edward R. Murrow's public clash with Senator Joseph McCarthy during the latter's Communist hunting reign of terror in the 1950s.
Clooney also directed, co-wrote, and starred in the movie, alongside Robert Downey Jr., Frank Langella, and others, depicting significant historical confrontations.
