Gerritsen Beach community organizes its largest-ever St. Patrick's Day Parade

The 15th Annual St. Patrick's Day Parade in Gerritsen Beach highlighted community spirit and cultural pride. Held on March 29, the parade featured over 30 groups and was dedicated to founders Tom and Dolores Donovan. Organizer Jim Donovan noted its growth as the largest parade in the area's history. Residents like Gary and Lucille Lovis, noted for their long-standing ties to the community, remarked on the importance of coming together to celebrate cultural heritage and foster neighborly ties.
"Compared to where it came from, it's the largest parade that Gerritsen Beach has ever had," parade organizer Jim Donovan stated, reflecting the event's growth.
Gary and Lucille Lovis, longtime residents, expressed, "It's a community thing where everybody knows each other... how often do you pause to honor another culture?"
