Ramos was convicted at trial and will serve a significant prison term for viciously stabbing a woman in a homophobic, unprovoked and nearly fatal attack, Bragg said.
Bragg emphasized that Ramos, emboldened by his biases, selected and assaulted the victim, seriously injuring and traumatizing her during the attack.
The victim sustained serious injuries, including a partially collapsed lung and punctured stomach and diaphragm, but was assisted to safety by shelter officers.
Bragg expressed hope that the victim would find comfort in knowing that justice was served and wished her continued recovery from the violent incident.
