SANTA ANA, Calif. (AP) A California man was sentenced Friday to 27 years to life in prison for making racist threats against a pregnant Black woman after prosecutors appealed an earlier, lighter sentence, officials said. Tyson Mayfield, 49, pleaded guilty in a court-offered deal in 2019 to get a five-year sentence that the Orange County District Attorney's office opposed and later appealed. An appeals panel rejected the decision, and Mayfield was retried and convicted of making criminal threats with an enhancement for a hate crime.

Officials identified the shooter as Robin Westman, 23, and said Westman was found dead in the parking lot from what they believe was a self-inflicted gunshot. Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O'Hara said authorities were searching a vehicle in the parking lot believed to be the shooter's and three associated residences in the area. They also were scouring content that Westman allegedly scheduled to be released on YouTube and has since been removed from the platform.

Authorities identified the shooter as 23-year-old Robin Westman, the child of a former parish employee. FBI Director Kash Patel said the agency is investigating the assault "as an act of domestic terrorism and hate crime targeting Catholics." According to court documents reviewed by local NBC affiliate KARE, Westman applied to change her name when she was 17. That request was granted in January 2020, the station reports.

Aberdeen apologized to a St Mirren supporter who was targeted at the Scottish Premiership game in Paisley with a chant, which then appeared on social media.

The victim, a Muslim woman, had her hijab ripped off and was kicked repeatedly during the attack. Police say they are looking for three girls between the ages of 11 to 15 and two boys whose ages are unknown.

Durham police are investigating a violent swarming at a Pizza Pizza establishment which may have been motivated by hate, as claimed by the National Council of Canadian Muslims.

"There is no place for this kind of disgusting and deliberate attempt to intimidate, disrupt or shame those taking part in a peaceful and joyful celebration of love, identity and community."

I hope that no one else ever has to feel the absolute blood-chilling terror this young mother described as she had to run for her life, and the life of her baby, not because of what she did, but because of the color of her skin.

Police said one of two victims of the assault suffered minor injuries, and that part of the attack was captured on video surveillance.

The Redwood City police reported the arrest of two 13-year-olds for throwing firecrackers and making anti-gay slurs at a Pride event, injuring one.
