PBS remains committed to airing "Sesame Street," which is entering its 55th season this fall. Critics, including Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, have expressed concerns over programming shifts and content diversity, referencing a 2021 segment featuring drag queen Lil Miss Hot Mess. While the segment has sparked controversy, it has not replaced "Sesame Street," which will continue to be available on PBS and streaming platforms. Funding cuts to PBS proposed by Greene could impact local stations, especially in rural areas reliant on federal support for educational content.
On PBS, "they now have drag queen storytime instead of good old Sesame Street," said Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., during a March 25 interview.
The 55th season of "Sesame Street" will air on PBS this fall, and episodes are also available for streaming on Max until 2027.
