Gianna Isabella Lozano and Nicholas Benjamin Perla, both members of the New York City Church of Christ's college ministry, met at a 5K race in September 2021. Their connection was immediate and effortless. As they navigated their college lives—Lozano graduating in engineering and Perla in exercise science—they developed a close relationship. Intrigued by their mutual friends' predictions, they established a carpools to church events which deepened their bond. Interestingly, as they prepare for their marriage on April 6, they have yet to kiss on the lips, marking a unique aspect of their love story.
Ms. Lozano highlighted that from their first interaction, 'it was an instant connection.' Both had been navigating life after college and felt aligned.
Ms. Lozano remarked about the 5K race, stating, 'For her, it was less about crossing the finish line than showing up for the event.'
Mr. Perla shared about their car pool arrangement, saying, 'I drove some of my friends to church events in the city, and that's how we met.'
The couple had not yet kissed, which felt unique and special to them as they approached their upcoming wedding.
