How one of San Francisco's most successful new chains 'just kind of happened'
Briefly

Tunnel Records, located in San Francisco, has successfully established itself as a premier destination for vinyl record enthusiasts since its opening eight years ago. After the challenges posed by the pandemic, it not only survived but also expanded, adding locations, including one in Ghirardelli Square. The store specializes in rare groove records, attracting collectors, particularly those coming from out of town. With its new record label on the horizon, Tunnel represents a blend of local culture and musical heritage, symbolizing a vibrant aspect of the city's post-pandemic revival.

Tunnel Records opened eight years ago and has grown to epitomize a certain strain of "west side cool" in San Francisco.
Two years ago, Tunnel opened a second location inside the 4 Star Theater. Last year, the store landed a coveted storefront in Ghirardelli Square.
Because Tunnel is the closest San Francisco record shop to SFO, it's the first stop for many record collectors flying into San Francisco.
