Ronnie Platt, the lead singer of Kansas, has announced his diagnosis of thyroid cancer, prompting the band to cancel two performances. Despite the serious nature of the diagnosis, Platt reassured fans, stating that the cancer is contained to his thyroid with a high survival rate. He expressed gratitude for the support he's receiving and remains optimistic about his recovery. Platt, who joined Kansas in 2014 and has appeared on their latest albums, highlighted that this health issue is merely a 'bump in the road.' Kansas is scheduled to resume touring later this year.
For all of you asking, Tuesday [February 11th] I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer but before everyone gets all excited, it has a 99% survival rate, it has not spread.
I sincerely appreciate everyone's positive thoughts and prayers. I have some absolutely amazing people going to bat for me!! This is just a bump in the road.
