The Beths Announce New Album, Share Video for New Song
Briefly

New Zealand indie-rock band The Beths will release their new album, 'Straight Line Was a Lie,' on August 29, marking their debut with Anti- label. The album explores themes of mental health, as highlighted in the new single 'No Joy,' written by frontwoman Elizabeth Stokes about her experiences with SSRIs. The title reflects life's nonlinear progression, and the band plans a significant headlining tour, with support from various acts. Their previous album, 'Expert in a Dying Field,' received notable acclaim, further establishing their presence in the indie music scene.
['No Joy'] is about anhedonia, which, paradoxically, was there both in the worst parts of depression, and then also when I was feeling pretty numb on my SSRI.
Straight Line Was a Lie was written in Los Angeles and recorded in the Beths' hometown of Auckland, New Zealand. The album's title reflects the illusion of linear progression.
