Equipment issue again disrupts air traffic at Newark Liberty airport in New Jersey: FAA
Briefly

Newark Liberty International Airport faced air traffic control disruptions on Sunday morning due to a telecommunications issue at the FAA's Philadelphia TRACON facility, leading to a ground stop. The incident was caused by audio malfunctions on radio frequencies, which necessitated a switch to backup systems. This marked the third disruption in two weeks, following a previous radar outage that left controllers unable to see aircraft for about 90 seconds. The FAA resolved the issues, restoring normal operations by late morning.
The FAA briefly slowed aircraft in and out of the airport while we ensured redundancies were working as designed.
While air traffic controllers were able to communicate with aircraft, the radio system was not working correctly, prompting the switch to a backup system.
