Not Your High School Crucible
Briefly

Sadie Sink, starring in 'John Proctor Is the Villain', reflects on her initial disdain for 'The Crucible', finding depth as she portrays a character interpreting the protagonist's role. Playwright Kimberly Belflower drew inspiration from the Salem witch trials and the #MeToo movement, infusing her local upbringing with contemporary relevance. Belflower's script resonates with young audiences, particularly for its authentic representation of women's experiences, eschewing clichés while addressing serious issues of consent and personal agency. Sink appreciates the complexity of Belflower's writing while recognizing her own generation's struggle to engage with these themes.

There was something about being back in the landscape where I grew up, and also with all what was going on in the news.
