Police Officer Jared Desalvo, who rescued a Maltese dog from the East River in March, took his heroism a step further by adopting the pup named Hudson. Desalvo, part of the NYPD Harbor Unit, saved Hudson after she struggled to stay afloat, and despite efforts to find her owner, no one emerged. Six weeks post-rescue, motivated by his family's fondness for Hudson, he adopted her from the Animal Care Centers of NYC, emphasizing a personal commitment to her well-being and a bond formed during the rescue.
âMy family thought she's very cute, and I've been hearing about it since the actual rescue date. They're constantly asking me: How's Hudson doing?â Desalvo shared.
âI wanted to do the right thing and adopt her.â After a long process of waiting, Desalvo finally got the chance to officially welcome Hudson into their family.
