Dozens of pro-Palestinian demonstrators conducted a sit-in at Barnard College to protest the expulsion of two students who interrupted a class on Israel. The protesters forcibly entered Milbank Hall, leading to a confrontation with security and the hospitalization of a Barnard employee. Barnard's administration described the protest as an undermining of the college's core values and set a deadline for the sit-in's conclusion, escalating the situation potentially with police intervention. Protesters demanded the reversal of student suspensions and other requests relating to pro-Palestinian activism.
The protesters had physically assaulted a Barnard employee, sending them to the hospital as they entered the building.
Tonight, a small group of masked protesters attempted to undermine Barnard's core values of respect, inclusion, and academic excellence.
Their demands included the immediate reversal of the student suspensions and amnesty for all other students disciplined for pro-Palestinian activism.
Chanting there is only one solution, intifada revolution and beating drums, the students began their sit-in.
